Does that question come to your mind, Let Me help You. Kinda.I will be speaking from my on extensive personal experience on Micorsofts WindowsXP . So lets make this clear this information is for WindowsXP only,,, as Microsofts Vista has decided to change things up a little bit as to where it keeps things . When I get it nailed down I will report back to you.
So lets figure a few things out.

The my documents folder should contain most of the items you want to back up. RIghhhht.!!!
well mostly.

In the following example WindowsXP is installed on the default C Drive .
If you have it installed on a different location then substitues your drive letter .
There is also the
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\

How to turn that off is what you want so here it is.

To turn off auto preview in ALL folders at once. In Outlook’s main screen,
you go to view, current view, define view, find the line that says “Messages
with autopreview,” choose modify and then look for the block that says
“other settings,” at the bottom of that screen uncheck the box that says
“show preview pane.” Then OK and Apply View your way out of the various
boxes.
